Ilenia Battiato joined Paula Welander and Jane Willenbring on a Women's History Month Celebration Panel hosted by the SDSS Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Office

A special Women's History Month Celebration Panel as part of Women’s History Month was held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 12-1:00 PM. This hybrid event highlighted the incredible contributions of women in the field of sustainability.

Hosted by the SDSS Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Office, this event featured three distinguished faculty members from the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, who shared their experiences and insights into advancing environmental research and education:

  • Dr. Ilenia Battiato - Associate Professor, Energy Science & Engineering Department
  • Dr. Paula Welander - Associate Dean for Integrative Initiatives in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs, Professor of Earth System Science
  • Dr. Jane Willenbring - Associate Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences, and courtesy Associate Professor in Earth System Science

The panel dove into the challenges and triumphs faced by women in academia, as well as the essential role they play in shaping a sustainable future. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Lupe Carrillo, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
